Dear Mr Harding,
King, who is on leave, has sent me your letter about Lorcher's map and asks me to let you know how matters
stand.
I find that the Director of Military Operations is still awaiting a reply from you to a memorandum which he sent on the 7th October asking for a copy of Mr J.E.Dreiss's letter which should have accompanied your letter of October 4th but which had accidentally been omitted.

I gather that the General Staff have never intende
to reproduce Mr Lorcher's map either in its present form or on a reduced scale. They are now engaged in mapping Kuang- Tung, and the only part of Larcher's map which they appear to be making use of is his register of names with a view to arriving

Perhaps Mr Dréiss's
at the correct Chinese characters. letter will enlighten them as to what is meant.
